The significance of the wedding cake cutting

The cake cutting event is not just to smash cake in your partner’s face (although this can be fun for some couples). The cake is shared with each other symbolizing the beginning of the couple’s future together as a married couple. 

How do you cut the wedding cake?

Some couples choose to cut the cake together and then feed each other with a fork. While others decide to pick a piece of the cake up and feed each other with their hands. The exciting part about using hands vs forks; Well, the couple gets to smash cake in each other's face. 

If you choose to go for the traditional cake cutting, usually someone from your wedding planning team is there to guide you along the way. If not, the cake cutting process is fairly simple.

Items that you need: 

• A knife/cake cutter 
• A cake plate 
• 2 forks 
• A few napkins

The wedding DJ will announce the cake cutting. 

The couple holds the knife together and cuts a triangle into the bottom tier of the wedding cake. 

The couple puts a slice of cake on the plate. 

Both partners will put a small bite onto the fork and feed each other, and then give each other a kiss, and the cake cutting was a success.
