What Is Engagement Season? How Should You Prepare?

Forget about the “No-shave November,” ENGAGEMENT SEASON is here! Here’s everything you need to know about this special time of year – and how you can get ready for it.

It’s that time of year again when couples and their families start planning holiday wedding proposals. Of course, the holidays are a wonderful time of year for many people, but they can also be stressful and overwhelming. Try throwing in an engagement too, and let the holiday spirit bring your families closer together.

If you're just starting to think about proposing, then you might want to wait until after New Year's Eve to pop the question. This is because January 1st marks the beginning of the new year, which means that you'll both be able to look back over the past year with pride and happiness.

What exactly is engagement season?

Engagement season is the time of year when wedding proposals are the most popular. People choose to get engaged during this time for a few reasons. The weather, holidays, and Black Friday sales events to name a couple. Possibly because they want to make sure that they're not going to miss out on any special occasions like Valentine’s Day or Christmas. Well, the best way to avoid missing out on these events is to go ahead and get engaged during engagement season!

When is Engagement Season?

If you're planning an engagement proposal, chances are you've already discussed it with your fiancé. If you haven't approached the topic, now might be the perfect time to do so. The best outcome of a wedding proposal is when both parties are on the same page.

Engagement season usually begins during the second half of autumn and lasts through February, with December being one of the more popular months to get engaged. So, are you thinking you'll propose this engagement season? If so, here are some tips on how you and your partner can be prepared for this engagement season.

Don't rush into proposing.

Even if you really want to ask your partner to marry you, you should take your time. Why? Because you need to know that you're ready to commit to each other, and you want to make sure that your partner feels the same way.

Choosing the right engagement ring.

Engagement rings are a great way to show your love and commitment to your significant other, but it can be difficult to know what kind of ring you should buy. There are many different types of engagement rings available today, including solitaire, eternity, princess cut, emerald cut, pear shape, round, cushion, and more. Each one has its unique style and meaning behind it.

Make sure that your partner knows how much you love them.

While this seems like a no-brainer, some people aren't aware of their importance to their partner. Don’t just tell them that you love them. Instead, show them through actions -- such as giving them thoughtful gifts, doing nice things for them, and spending quality time together.

Don't go overboard with the proposal.

There's nothing wrong with asking for your partner’s hand in marriage, but don't ask for more than he's willing to offer. If he wants to get married right away, then let him. If he prefers to save money, then let him.

Do what is important for you and your significant other.

You both have the same mindset about your future plans. Communication is key.

Use social media platforms to spread the news.

If you plan on proposing during engagement season, social media platforms are a great way to share the news with your loved ones. For example, on the day you plan on proposing, you can go on Facebook live. This way, you can share the big news and save the video for keepsake memories

Happenings™ Ever After

"The most valuable and important thing we can deliver is an unforgettable memory."

If you've already proposed to your significant other, then congratulations! Now it's time to start planning your dream wedding. Start by choosing a date and season that works well for you and your partner. However, if you haven't yet decided, you still have plenty of time to plan your big day.

You may want to consider having a winter wedding. Many brides prefer to hold their weddings in the colder months because they feel that it gives them a sense of romance and intimacy. They also believe that the weather makes for a beautiful background for wedding photos. If you live somewhere where snow isn't too common, then you might want to schedule your wedding in springtime instead. Springtime is a romantic time of year, and it's the perfect opportunity to celebrate your relationship with flowers, sunshine, and fresh air. Another option would be to hold your wedding in June. This is a popular choice among couples who want to spend their honeymoon before the summer heat sets in.

About Happenings™

Based in Manhattan, Happenings™ founder Tom Noel would often take a walk through Central Park. In 2008, during one of his walks, he stopped to sit at one of his favorite iconic locations in the Park, the Bethesda Fountain. There, Mr. Noel noticed that the intrinsic beauty that surrounded him was not being fully harnessed. He also realized that not a single business provided the exclusiveness of an affordable and high-quality event planner. Determined to change this, Happenings™ was born.
